Exhibition on the theme "Fryderyk Chopin" – a musical genius

This year we commemorate the 210th anniversary of the birth of Fryderyk Chopin, a Polish composer of classical music and a piano virtuoso who became famous as “the poet of the piano”. His most important compositions include small-scale works such as nocturnes, waltzes, but also piano sonatas. Chopin also composed dance compositions, with the Polish national element excelling most in the mazurkas and ceremonial polonaises. The opening of the exhibition will take place in the premises of Místodržitelský Palace as part of the concert “Forms of Music”, and then will continue in the Jiří Mahen Library in Brno. The exhibition is organized by the Polish minority group POLONUS.

 

Exhibition Six (un)known women of 20th century Brno

The gallery of last century’s significant Brno personalities includes women whose activities were long overshadowed by their male counterparts. In the framework of historical events it is just to commemorate their work and acknowledge their social life, too. The exhibition presents a range of remarkable women in a form depicting also the German Brno. The exhibition will be prepared by the German cultural association Německý kulturní spolek.

 

The series of songs and dances

The children's folklore ensemble will sing and dance in national Bulgarian costumes. This performance will be provided by the Bulgarian Association Brno.

 

CONCERT – Gustav Brom Big Band and Zuzana Gamboa

Big jazz and swing orchestra celebrating its 80th anniversary performs now under the umbrella of Czech Radio. Gustav Brom Big Band, historically the oldest jazz orchestra in Europe, has 18 musicians. Its concerts are successful not only in the Czech Republic, but also abroad. Singers such as Ilona Csáková, Leona Machálková and Michal Malátný performed occasionally with the orchestra, Karel Gott even recorded the joint album Sentiment with it. Regarding the international cooperation, we can mention a lot of top world stars such as Tiny Scott, Vadim Ludvikovskij, Herman Lukjanov, Ptatzin Wroblewski, Tomas Sukalski, Tomas Stanko or George Mraz. Moravské náměstí resounds with the great swing music of big band conducted by Vladimír Valovič together with the voice of music star Zuzana Gamboa.
